Front row seats for Jack & Jane's band... they don't have a name yet. Their current favorite song is 1234 by Feist.

Fall, Happy Moment #1
Fall is already half over, and I realize I never got around to posting much about our trip (after the 1.5 hours of uploading pics to Facebook I was kind of worn out), but the time is right to get back on the blogging wagon since it's getting to be the inside season! Life is kind of blah right now. Not necessarily in a bad way, but the days and weeks go by without a whole lot of news to report; it's the daily routine of life. But there are small, happy moments scattered throughout. I plan to focus on those to get through the blah days. Like yesterday when the rain stopped and the sun came out, the leaves were still on the trees in beautiful vibrant colors and I had a nice long refreshing walk with my daught... er, my dog.

Too busy catching up on everyone else's blogs....
to update my own! I'm recovering from a two week internet fast while in Europe, though not by choice... I don't know why I didn't bring my laptop. It would've been worth it despite the weight. Is it sad that I missed it? We had a great time in Europe but were pretty exhausted by the end. I think the whole train pass/hop from city to city thing is for the 25 & under crowd! I don't know where to begin with pictures. Here are a few of my faves:

Celebrating Baby Benjamin Byrd
Do you see a theme here? "B"s perhaps?... I hosted a baby shower for a dear old friend last weekend and it turned out pretty well despite having a small crowd, I think she felt loved. I wish I could do this for all my friends but some of you know hosting is not a natural gift for me, I tend to get really stressed out. I got some great ideas from a friend who is a PRO at hosting great showers and parties (thanks Mol):)

Long Beach
We picked Long Beach this year for our annual family trip, rented a great big house and had our own little slice of the beach to ourselves. We had so much fun going to the beach and the kite festival, playing monopoly and sitting by the fire pit at night. Oh and somewhere in there I managed to sprain my ankle chasing Jack down the stairs. My brother was also wearing a cast on his foot so we were quite the bunch of clutzes. I do love to be with my family though by the end of the trip I'm usually ready for a break. I'm always so sad to leave though because it usually means the end of summer is near and I guess in a morbid way, it just reminds me how fast time flies and how short life is. All the more reason to enjoy each day!
Back from a weekend at the beach...

31 and still kickin'!
I've proven to myself I'm not completely out of shape, yet. Did a sprint triathlon in Lake Chelan w/ two girlfriends from college and I'm glad I did it but also so glad it's over! I don't think I need to do another one. There was a moment when I thought that I might drown so I don't plan on reliving that if I can help it. Now it may be time to think about a half marathon! Pictures to come (forgot my camera, so am waiting on a friend to send copies...they promise to be pretty scary).

Three day respite in Tucson
Got to spend a lovely three days with the sisters Finnerty, Kate & Mary, in Tucson last week. I had a free ticket down there and really enjoyed having time with the girls, laying by the pool soaking up the sun and reading my book. Mentally preparing myself for the last 9 month push of Bill's crazy work/school/clinical schedule, which will be stressful. We can do this!
